St. Paul, Minneapolis, and beyond.
Since 2012 the Paul Esch Band has performed a variety of hits from then and today, covering Van Morrison, James Taylor, Neil Young, Neil Diamond, Tom Petty, Zac Brown Band, Gear Daddies, Johnny Cash, Beatles, Bob Dylan, and originals.
The group has performed hundreds of live music shows at outdoor patios, bars, and restaurants in Minnesota and Wisconsin and a variety of classic acoustic light rock, blues, favorite cover, and contemporary pop tunes from the 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, 00s, and today, plus dance tunes, acoustic guitar instrumentals and original live music.

Meet the Band
Paul Esch
lead vocalist & acoustic guitar
Paul studied guitar with Grammy winning national acoustic guitar fingerpicking champion Pat Donohue of Prairie Home Companion fame. He has led a number of live acoustic music duos, trios and five piece rock bands. He has performed live guitar music for corporate parties, country clubs, restaurants, bars, patios, ski resorts and outdoor music venues.
Paul is a graduate of the University of St. Thomas and member of the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers.
Tim Sunde
bass guitar
Tim is passionate about the Bass and it shows in every performance. Audiences know of his 7 string bass, upright, and deep honest vocals. His playing experience includes 300 USA cities, 28 countries and has recorded on 15 albums (with national airplay - Midwest CMA nominated Moedell). Tim is staff bassist at North Heights – Main Campus.
Timing, placement, and intentional style are highly influenced by Verdine White (Earth Wind and Fire), Leland Sklar (James Taylor), Mark King (Level 42), Wilson Jackson (BB King), Dean Dinning (Toad the Wet Sprocket) and Norm Stockton (Lincoln Brewster).
John Hiiva
drums & percussion
John Hiiva has been drumming professionally for over 25 years in both variety and Gospel bands including: Ken Wanovich & Twilight band, the Waxtones, Uncle Funky, Starlight-Freehand wedding bands, Joe Jackson & Refuge Band, Damascus, and First Step. Many of these projects had CD release projects (instrumental/holiday/original).
He has also been a paid Church & Worship leader for Hosanna Lutheran, North Heights Lutheran, Eaglebrook, Grace Church and Community of Grace in White Bear Lake.
John plays GMS drums and K-Zildjian “custom dark” cymbals.
